Sometimes fruit names in the Mandarin Chinese language easy: A blueberry and blackberry in Chinese are easy: 蓝莓 lán (blue) and 黑莓hēi (respectively), but a green apple isn’t 绿lǜ (green) but rather named a “青qīng” 苹果píngguǒ. Neither is a watermelon a ‘水瓜Shuǐ guā’. Also, Chinese measure words come into play. A 一根yì gēn (one piece) of banana isn’t the same as 一串yí chuàn (a bunch) or 一斤yì jīn (500 gram).
