GoEast Spring Semester Trip to Ningbo
GoEast’s Spring Semester Trip to Ningbo was an absolute delight! Over the weekend of May 25th and 26th, our group ventured out of the bustling metropolis of Shanghai to escape into the serene embrace of Ningbo. Led by knowledgeable teachers, we slowed down the pace of life and immersed ourselves in the rich cultural tapestry and natural wonders this city had to offer.
Tianyi Pavilion
Our first stop was the Tianyi Pavilion, founded in 1561. As we stepped into the oldest and largest private library in China, we couldn’t help but feel a profound reverence for the vast repository of knowledge and history contained within its walls. The meticulously preserved ancient texts and scholarly ambiance transported us back in time, igniting our curiosity and appreciation for the intellectual pursuits of generations past.
Dapeng Mountain
Seeking solace in nature, we embarked on a invigorating hike through the picturesque Dapeng Mountain. Surrounded by towering peaks, meandering streams, and lush greenery, we reconnected with the great outdoors. Each step along the winding trails revealed breathtaking vistas and an abundance of tranquility, a stark contrast to the urban landscapes we’re accustomed to.
Local Culture and Cuisine
But the true highlight of our journey was the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture and cuisine. We had the privilege of being welcomed into the home of a warm and hospitable family, where we savored the authentic flavors of traditional Ningbo dishes. As we shared a meal together, we engaged in genuine conversations, exchanging stories, and gaining invaluable insights into the local customs and way of life.
Throughout our stay, we practiced our Mandarin skills, communicating with the friendly locals and gaining a deeper appreciation for the nuances of their language and culture. These interactions not only enhanced our linguistic abilities but also fostered a profound sense of connection and understanding between us and our gracious hosts.
As we bid farewell to Ningbo, our hearts were filled with cherished memories, newfound knowledge, and a renewed appreciation for the rich tapestry of experiences that lie beyond the boundaries of our familiar surroundings. GoEast’s Spring Semester Trip was a testament to the transformative power of travel, cultural exchange, and embracing the wonders of nature. We returned to Shanghai with a deeper sense of gratitude, enriched perspectives, and a yearning to embark on more adventures that broaden our horizons.
