There are a lot of Chinese proverbs about bamboo, but we haven’t found one yet that describes going on a weekend trip with your language school, so we’ll explain it for you here: with 42 students & Mandarin teachers, we travelled out of Shanghai and into the bamboo forests of Anji, up on hills and into valleys.
